Chrysler sales down 55% in Jan. 2009, Employee Pricing Plus Plus to continue through Feb.


Chrysler had it worst out of all the Detroit Big 3 automakers in January 2009 sales. The Auburn Hills automaker reported January 2009 U.S. sales of 62,157, down 55 percent as compared to the same month a year ago and 31 percent down from December 2008. Chrysler had it worst out of all the Detroit Big 3 automakers in January 2009 sales. The Auburn Hills automaker reported January 2009 U.S. sales of 62,157, down 55 percent as compared to the same month a year ago and 31 percent down from December 2008. Chrysler finished the month off with 359,980 units of inventory, or a 151-day supply.


Chrysler said that it sold 6,362 units of the Jeep Wrangler, an increase of 4 percent. Dodge Journey accounted for 3,092 units while the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Avenger accounted for 2,757 and 2,171 units respectively.



Chrysler said that it will continue the Employee Pricing Plus Plus program through February. The incentive offers employee pricing to all customers purchasing or leasing a new 2008 or 2009 Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle. Customers are also eligible for cash discounts of up to $3,500 for 2009 model year vehicles and up to $6,000 on 2008 model year vehicles.


Chrysler Financial will also offer zero percent financing to qualified customers for up to 48 months.
