Chicago Auto Show today saw the wraps going off to a DeltaWing Indycar that marked the future of open wheel racecars. This concept is aimed at realigning America’s premiere racing tradition with current automobile industry and consumer trends. Made of carbon fiber and using recycled polyethylene, this racing car that weighs only 1,000 lbs, including the driver, is not only lighter, but less expensive to run.

This Radical Concept has 300HP and delivers 235mph laps with half the power, half fuel consumption, and above all costs half as much as the current IndyCar chassis from Dallara. Thus, DeltaWing Indycar answers the call for high performance with efficiency and sustainability in a style. This vehicle is only a concept at the moment, but it’ll surely change a lot of thinking about what future open wheel racers would be like.
