Audi struck at Geneva Motor show with its Audi A1 E-Tron Pure Electric Concept. The move is deemed as Audi’s effort create a new tag for its zero emission electric vehicles.

The vehicle is a third one in the e-tron concept line and two earlier versions Viz. AWD supercar and compact RWD two-seater concept has already been displayed at Frankfurt 2009 and Detroit show 2010 respectively.

The spanking-new A1 premium supermini is the smallest E-tron and has 12-kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack. The battery pack give power to the front mounted electric motor that generates 102hp and 240Nm torque. Along with an electric motor, there is a 254cc single-rotor Wankel engine that runs at 5,000rpm, kicking in to charge the lithium-ion batteries when they are depleted.

On the top of that, A1 e-tron’s front electric motor converts the breaking energy to the electric current and put it back to the electric system. Also, the energy can be stored in a storage unit under floor which is ideal for gravity and weight distribution. The newest unveil from Audi weighs only 1,190kg can sprint 0-100km/h in 10.2 seconds and has a top speed at 130 km/h.

In A1 e-tron, there is a single-gear transmission and power is conduit to the front wheels through the same. Additionally, with the Wankel petrol engine, the vehicle can cover up to200km and in case A1 e-tron yields a combined fuel consumption of only 1.9 lt/100 km which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 45g/km.

However, the four-passenger, two-door MCV city car has zero CO2 emissions in electric only mode and lithium ion battery pack has range of 31 miles on a fresh charge.
