Liam Ferguson’s creation, this single wheeled bike is dubbed as ‘Hornet’ and is the winner of the prestigious VACC competition. This bike presents a perfect example of a machine that will bridge the gap between current motorbikes and the promise of hover cars.

This eco-friendly bike gets power from dual 74 hp in-wheel hydrogen fuel-cell six-phase Neodymium-Iron (Nd-Fe) electric motors and touches the maximum speed of 235 km/h. Hornet incorporates two small wheels on its each side to balance it gyroscopically.

These two side wheels are only in use when the bike is parked and when it gets into the motion; it tilts forward to lift its rear stabilizer wheels off the ground, thus making bike run on the central wheel only.

Further, in order to examine Hornet’s attitude and the rider’s inputs to correct the stance as per weight and momentum, the bike integrates a series of computers. Weighing at 176 kilograms, the single wheel bike has dual-wheel system underneath that allows it an amazing turning circle of zero meters.
