King Saud University (KSU) students have come up with Gazal-1, based on Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. The vehicle is displayed at Geneva this year and is developed on the wishes of the King of Saudi Arabia.

While keeping in mind the environment and population of the Arabian Gulf, KSU students rebodied a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen and named it after the gazelles – apparently a creature commonly found living in Saudi Arabia. Also, the vehicle is designed and built while combing a natural ability for extreme off-road driving with comfortable urban and suburban road use.

Developed in assistance with Magna-Steyr and StudioTorino, the body of the vehicle is made of carbon fiber but it weights approximately the same as the original steel G550. The green truck unveiled at Geneva is just a model or rather call it a styling exercise and there are almost no expectations of Gazal going into the production.

The vehicle displayed at Geneva is a full-sized styling model however; a functioning prototype of the same will be presented at KSU in Riyadh later this year.
