This is a bottle, right? Well, it is. But it’s more than a bottle. Yes, it has a boat in it which is the 1/30th replica of Admiral Nelson’s flagship Victory on which he died during the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Finishing touch to this unique piece of art was provided by the expert artist, Yinka Shonibare who placed the admiral’s vessel inside a transparent plastic bottle, measuring 4.7m in length and 2.8m in diameter. A piece of art, this boat in a bottle was displayed on May 24th and occupied fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, London. The largest ship in a bottle ever, it features 37 sails crafted from colorful African fabrics and 80 cannon, commemorating the first-rate craft that Admiral Horatio Nelson sailed in the 1805.
