Mercedes S400 hybrid, World's first production car to use lithium-ion battery


Lithium-Ion car battery is nothing new to anyone of us, particularly when it comes to Eco-friendly vehicles. But the lithium-ion batteries have so far been used in prototype vehicles only. However, Mercedes S400 Hybrid is the first to use lithium-ion.

Lithium-Ion car battery is nothing new to anyone of us, particularly when it comes to Eco-friendly vehicles. But the lithium-ion batteries have so far been used in prototype vehicles only. However, Mercedes S400 Hybrid is the first to use lithium-ion battery in a production vehicle.



It’s already known that lithium-ion battery is more powerful than nickel-metal hydride batteries and makes S400 to become 26% more fuel efficient than that of S550. On the top of this, S400 maintains the same smooth Mercedes ride with eco-friendly spirit and terrific MPG making the vehicle CO2 champion in the luxury class.
